Activity 5 – ‘About me’ page

What is the difference between a page and a post? Make sure you check it out in the glossary in the header area of this blog.

Activity 5.

Create a page about yourself

Remember not to include personal information (part of digital citizenship) but really tell us about yourself. You might want to check out some examples from other students and classes.

Creating your about me page in steps

  1. Login to your blog, go to the dashboard>pages>all pages> hover under sample or about page and click edit.
  2. Delete whatever might already be in the box.
  3. Change the title to About Me or something similar.
  4. Remember to also edit the permalink to aboutme then save it.
  5. If you only have one row of icons above the box, click on the last icon called the kitchen sink. This opens a second row which allows you to change font colours and to insert from a word document.
  6. In the box, write a bit about yourself remembering to be internet safe. Make sure you have checked out the pages from other students mentioned – many of them have been blogging for a while.
  7. When you have finished click the big blue button on the right side of your screen – probably says update.

Leave a comment mentioning whose about me page you found was most interesting and why.  Remember you also need to leave a comment on the week 1 basics post.

      Hi Jacob,
I am checking into this. Did you login to your blog first? Then go to your dashboard. Down the left find pages> all pages – click Hover over the page you want to change and click the edit button underneath. This should then open into what you were using the other day. Is there a blue update button there now?

  2. Miss W. says:

    Hi Jacob,
The reason you couldn’t edit was the settings your teacher and I had decided on for your blogs and the fact you used your sample page to edit and change into all about me. I have changed the settings for just this week so you should now be able to edit.

From next week on though, you will have to save drafts until the post is ready to be checked by your teacher or me, then we will publish it.
